What happenswhen I join the agency?
Once you sign the service agreement and agree to service we ask that you let ACC know immediately. ACC will then send us a service approval which stipulates your hours of support; and a copy of your most recent Support Needs Assessment/Complex Assessment.
The Area Supervisor for your region will meet with you and if you do not have caregivers, will start the recruitment process. Our Area Supervisors will work through the Agency's initial paperwork with you, including a care plan and other essential documentation. From that point onward, it will be a process of employing and training appropriate caregivers.

Will the caregivers come to the spinal unit before I am discharged?
Yes - generally ACC will fund for at least two caregivers to work two x eight hour shifts at the Spinal Unit/Rehabilitation Centre to learn your personal care prior to your discharge. This includes your physio routine.

What's a Support Need Assessment (SNA)?
A Support Needs Assessment (SNA) is an assessment that is carried out by an ACC contracted provider (not McIsaac Caregiving Agency). Generally this will be an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Registered Nurse. The Needs Assessor will interview you and your family or support person to determine the type of support you require, what hours are needed and which type of specialised equipment (if applicable) would best suit your needs. The Assessor will determine what consumables you require, and is responsible for ensuring they are delivered to your home.

Does it cost me to have your agency involved?
No. We contract with ACC and invoice them for your care. We do, however, expect you to maintain insurance on your house, contents and any motor vehicle that our staff drive on your behalf.
